The reason this is important is during an emergency or disaster your family might not all be in the same place at the same time.
My personal experience with a rally or a rally point comes from the military. During military engagement the forces might be dispersed for whatever reason and instead of everybody just wandering around it’s common to go back to what is known as a rally point. These rally points are identified throughout the course of an operation.
For our purposes were going to pick three rally points, the first ones is the home, always the primary rally point is for everybody comes back to.
The second rally point could possibly be a school or a place of work.
Generally, someplace that people are already at and is safe.
The third or alternate rally point, should be a place that is easily accessible, and everybody knows how to get to. This third rally point can be the mall a specific place at the mall, the church, a public park, a friend’s house. Anyplace that everybody knows how to get to.
To identify your rally points, get a physical map of your city mark on that map the locations where people are at during the day. That will be your home is your primary rally point, places of work and schools. Then identify what is the secondary rally point and where your alternate rally points will be.
Keep in mind that because of the circumstances the ability to get to these rally points may be impeded because of damage to the infrastructure.
Do not deviate your rally points. They must be well known and not change.
Practice getting to these rally points from all locations using multiple means of transportation foot bicycle car.
Till next time
