Word of the Week – Fun

The word of the week for April 18, 2022 is Fun.

Why am I selecting fun as the word of the week?

Many of us don’t just don’t have enough fun. That’s one reason I am throwing this out into the universe. I know I’m guilty of it myself. I’ll be too busy. I have things to do, and drudgery abounds. I get to wash the dishes, have the bathroom to clean, have the laundry to do, and the yard needs to be taken care of. That’s no fun.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. It also doesn’t mean that we cannot do something to have fun after we are done.

Most of you know that my vision is to protect our children from the emergencies and disasters that will come into their lives, and you know the only way I know how to do that is by preparing their parents to prepare their children.

When thinking about disaster management, you know earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, flooding, wildfires, and tornadoes pandemic are no fun. I get it, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun when putting a plan together. When you actually have to use that plan, you will know what you are doing. And it might even be fun doing it.

Having fun is very important when we are preparing our children. Having fun and learning something will help us retain the information. It will be more enjoyable for us to return to it and learn more to expand on the process.

So let’s have some fun. It can be something as simple as getting ice cream, walking in the park, or riding a bicycle. It doesn’t matter. Find a way to integrate fun into whatever the planning process is. How can we do that? When you do your disaster grocery shopping, have some fun with whatever you’re picking out. And make sure they do fall into the nonperishable categories. Have some fun, try something different. You will enjoy it now.

Enjoy yourself every day. Somehow, sometime, find a moment in the day where you can have fun.

Remember, the word of the week is fun. You get to play and have fun all week long.
